EVENT ALERT! Teen Poetry Workshops at Braden River Library
Next month I’ll be teaching two in-person poetry workshops at the Braden River Library in Bradenton, Florida! These one-hour workshops will be a part of the library’s fall teen programming and are open to those between the ages of 13 and 18 years old.
Intro to Poetry for Teens will take place on October 22, 2022 from 1:00-2:00pm in Room 205. This workshop will introduce students to the craft of reading and writing poetry. Students will read poems in various styles including structured verse, free verse, and blackout poetry. Students will explore common poetic themes and devices and write poems using poetry prompts provided during the presentation. More info here.
“Deep Into That Darkness Peering”: Speculative Poetry for Teens will take place on October 29, 2022 from 1:00-2:00pm. Room TBA. This poetry workshop for teens will dive into the world of speculative poetry, including fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and mythological poems. Teens will have an opportunity to learn more about the genre and try writing their own speculative poem. More info here.
